A VISION FOR SUMNER

BUILDING BETTER TOGETHER

MEET BILL PUGH

Bringing Real Change to Sumner

My first term as Mayor was challenging, with multiple floods, snowstorms, windstorms, an urban fire, and a global pandemic. Despite these trials, we persevered and achieved significant improvements such as replacing the Cannery bridge, upgrading the Traffic Ave Interchange, enhancing parks, transitioning to online permitting and upgrading City systems.

Since my Sumner Mayoral term ended in 2021, I have led efforts with the Pierce County Library System and the School District to secure funding for a new Sumner library, finish rebuilding Sumner High School, and enhance Daffodil Sports Field as part of school district-wide enhancements. Thank you, voters, for making this happen!

Fostering community growth while preserving our small-town character is crucial. We must support our historic downtown, so it can support us. We need to focus on the essentials: affordable housing, police protection, safe convenient access around town, safe neighborhoods, parks for physical and emotional health, local access to social services and encouraging commercial development.

Building partnerships with public and private entities will help us meet these challenges. Throughout my career I have successfully built community through partnerships, consensus, and diligent effort. I would be honored to continue doing so as your Mayor once again.

"Bill has supported me throughout my term as Mayor. And he hasn’t been sitting around the last three years. He’s led the citizen campaigns to build a new Sumner Library, pass a School District Operating Levy, and pass a School District Bond issue to build and upgrade needed school facilities (including Sumner High School). He has always worked to support the community. I totally support his re-election!"

Kathy Hayden - Mayor, City of Sumner
